Have you ever wanted to change the look of your smile without expensive or invasive oral surgery? Do you need an alignment for your crooked teeth, but want an alternative to braces that can visually correct your problem in as little as three visits? Dr. Tejas Patel and the staff at Lakeway Smiles are proud to be able to provide beautiful and affordable porcelain veneers at their Downtown Austin, TX location. With several years of experience and the latest in dental imaging technology, Dr. Patel has helped many of his patients to gain the smile and the confidence that they have been searching for.
A veneer is a shell, commonly made from porcelain, that is placed over the teeth. The bonding agent that is used in the placement of a veneer is safe, long lasting, and very durable. That means that a veneer will be safe to chew on, drink with, and more. Veneers may be suggested for a number of different circumstances, which include:
- Crooked, misaligned teeth.
- Teeth which have been chipped or broken due to injury.
- Discolored teeth.
- Replacement of an older restoration.
- Gaps between teeth.
- Teeth which are slightly rotated or angled.
The materials that are used in the fabrication of the veneer shell are handcrafted and colored to match your natural teeth so well, not even you will be able to tell the difference. Although porcelain veneers are often considered to be a cosmetic procedure, they can actually be quite useful for the purposes of corrective dentistry. Whereas braces can take years, and several uncomfortable office visits, to fully correct an alignment issue that your teeth may have, veneers can fix the problem within three simple visits to our offices.
The First Visit : Consultation
Your first visit will involve a review of your current dental situation, as well as a discussion on how veneers may be the right solution for those issues. Dr. Patel can help you to understand what veneers are, what to expect once they’ve been bonded to your teeth, and what you can also expect ten years down the line. Because Dr. Patel and his staff are deeply committed to providing patients with proper care and information, the consultation period is both informative and stress-free. We will check your oral health, and if you decide veneers are right for you, we will make an impression of your teeth.
The Second Visit: Preparation
After you’ve decided on veneers, Dr. Patel will prepare your teeth. A surface layer of the teeth will be removed so that the veneers can be placed comfortably in your mouth. A second impression of your teeth will be made, so that the veneers can be properly fitted on the targeted site. Both the impression of your natural teeth, and the impression of the placement site are sent to a lab, so that technicians can fabricate veneers that will fit both physically and visually. Dr. Patel will also provide you with temporary veneers that you will wear until your permanent veneers are ready.
The Third Visit : Placement
Once your veneers are ready to place, you can return to the office for a provisional fitting and final placement. Dr. Patel will check your teeth and your veneers to ensure that the permanent shell is the right fit, the right shape, and the right color. If both you and he are comfortable with the way that they look and feel, then they will be permanently bonded onto your teeth, creating the look and feel of a natural, beautiful smile.
Follow Up Care
Once the veneers have had time to bond, and once you have had time to wear them at home, Dr. Patel suggests a follow up appointment so that they can be checked. Dr. Patel and his staff want to be sure that you are absolutely satisfied with the fit and feel of the veneers, and will make any necessary corrections if you’ve had an issue.
An Easy Process with Fast Results
As you can see, the entire process, from start to finish, is handled to ensure that your veneers are inserted quickly and comfortably without sacrificing the quality of work involved. The prices of veneer placement differ depending on the location of the tooth and whether certain corrections are involved, but Dr. Patel does his best to keep the process affordable for his clients.
